New Mexico Asian Family Center – NMAFC
NMAFC is a community-based organization that provides culturally sensitive programs and services creating a Pan-Asian community that advocates for and supports itself. Through a root-cause analysis centered on community-reflective care, NMAFC works to advance the visibility, rights, and equitable access to services of APINH families across NM. All programs are grounded in the traditional modalities of healing through practices that have been with our families across generations, are led by those most impacted, and are designed in conjunction with our women and families, who help identify needs in NM. We provide direct social services and multi-generational community programming. Our core values are founded on the belief that the solutions and answers we need lie within our communities' deep wisdom and experiences and that all of our work should reflect this. NMAFC provides wraparound case management services, legal consultation and representation, individual and family counseling, in-language peer support and healing groups, multi-generational prevention programming, cross-racial movement building for youth, health and financial literacy workshops, family leadership development, integrated voter engagement and education, and policy and advocacy. Our trained staff members are from the communities impacted, identify as APINH, and are multi-lingual in one or more Asian languages. Although open to anyone, NMAFC services are tailored to APINH individuals and families who are: • Immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, or other newcomers; • Survivors of gender-based violence and other crimes; • Speakers of APINH languages; and • Households of low to extremely low-income levels We believe that everyone should have access to culturally-reflective and linguistically accessible care.
